Michael Magers is a 12 year old singer from Southern California. His father died when he was just three and Michael’s mother was worried about how he would take it, as he was very close to his father. Like every mother, she worried if her son would be okay. She got him involved in numerous sports and activities at an early age but nothing seems to really click with him. Then one day she heard Michael singing the Bruno Mars song, Grenade in front of the computer and he was having a blast and easily learned the lyrics. She encouraged him to audition his school’s talent show (the same day, since it was the final deadline) and he was invited to perform. Michael got up on stage in front of several hundred people a week later (for the first time) and left the audience buzzing and wanting to hear more.
Two months later, Michael was asked to sing the Bruno Mars song, “Talking To The Moon,” in front of 3,500 people on an Alaskan Cruise. His heartfelt rendition of the song was inspired by feeling a reconnection to his dad whom he had lost. The song was recorded and entered into a music video contest at Teenage-Rockstar.net. The music video ended up getting over 2.4 million votes in 102 days, and Michael was named Teenage-Rockstar.net Season 3 – Artist of the Year!
Michael has posted over 20 videos on YouTube since, February 2011. He currently has over 36,000 subscribers, 150,000 friends/contacts and over 430,000 channel views.
Michael is well traveled having been to 21 countries and recently toured the UK with the People to People Student Ambassador program. He is a strong believer in making the world a better place to live and making friends worldwide.
He currently is entered in the Rio +20 Global Youth Music Video competition featuring original music by young singers worldwide. Michael entered two music videos for the contest including a solo entitled, “Everybody Listening” and a duet with German singer Carlotta Truman called, “Put Up a Good Fight.” Michael’s solo was recently chosen to be included in this year’s Rio +20 CD Compilation.
Michael also just recorded a new original track called, “One Day” and performed it live at two venues on Earth Day weekend.

Michael Magers, the 12-year-old who won the Teenage-Rockstart.net contest with 2.4 million votes, gives Justin Bieber a run for his money.

Recently named Artist of the Year by Teenage-Rockstar.net, Michael Magers was chosen to perform five songs to a crowd of swooning young girls Saturday at a Whole Foods Market Earth Day Celebration in Irvine, CA. Michael Magers’ show demonstrated that he is not the average 12-year-old boy raising awareness about global warming. He is now competing in an international contest at Global-Rockstar.net, which is sponsored in part by the United Nations.
With two original songs currently in the top 10, Michael is on the verge of becoming an international hit. Votes are being tallied until May 19, 2012. The winner will be flown to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on June 20-22, 2012, to perform at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio+ 20 Earth Summit.
Attendees at the Earth Day Celebration Saturday were encouraged to join a Five Days of Michael campaign to vote for his performance on the Global-Rockstar.net site by clicking on the heart below his video every day for the next five days, in accordance with the contest’s rules.

Michael’s song for this contest is called “Everybody Listening”, and has already been chosen by the Rio +20 Global Youth Music administrators as one of the songs for their Rio +20 Global Music CD Compilation this year.
